Bridal Hair Trial Tips and Tricks

Plan ahead

Schedule your hair trial three months before the wedding, Booking too early can lead to second guessing and changing your mind. As long as you’ve decided on your dress, 3 months is usually the perfect, it also gives plenty of time for a second trial to be scheduled in the rare occurrence of a change of heart before the wedding, but hopefully not!

What to wear

What you wear on the day of your hair trial can give you a great idea of how you will feel on your wedding day. Wearing a neckline similar to the neckline of your dress and in a similar colour, will give you a good visual of how you’ll feel on the big day. You don’t have to show up in your bridal gown but wear something that gives you the feeling of being pretty and polished - it will be much easier to envision how you will look and feel on your wedding day after having your hair done.

Condition

It’s important that your hair is in the best possible condition before your wedding day. At your trial, as part of your customised bridal care package you will receive a full size shampoo and conditioner best suited to your hair type with a styling care product to get your hair as strong and as shiny as possible before the big day.

Prep

Wash and dry your hair beforehand. It’s personal preference as to whether you want to shower on your wedding morning. Some brides only feel properly ‘clean’ if they wash their hair. If you do, no problem at all, but it is easier to work on hair washed and smooth dried the night before. More advice as to the prep of your hair can be discussed at your trial.

Wear makeup

If you can co-ordinate the makeup and hair trial on the same day, amazing but we know logistics don’t always work, so put your best face forward and do your makeup as close as you can to how you’d like it on your wedding day. Not only will you feel great but you’ll get a better visual of the overall look.

Bring images and ideas

Your hair trial is the perfect opportunity to try out different styles and ideas, but it is great to have a starting point. Bring as many images as you can as this will give a great idea as to where to begin. Remember to keep an open mind and it’s ok to completely change the initial plan - this is what the trial is for!

Don’t forget the accessories

If possible, bring the veil and any hair accessories you want to try with you to the trial. Take photos of all the different styles with the accessories on the day so you can go away and decide on your bridal style - you don’t have to decide on the day of the trial.

Consider the weather & time of year

Keep in mind that weather can play a part in which style will work best for you. Down do’s keep you warmer during winter weddings and hair up’s have better longevity on hot summer days. Not only will you receive a prep package, you’ll also get a touch up pouch with products to tweak your style when the veil is taken out. Although the best way to endure longevity of style would be booking an evening hair change. A whole new style for the evening party!
